This Saturday I had the pleasure of meeting Vanessa Simmons. She rolled out her new line of natural face and body products at Beauty Kitchen Boutique in Boulder City. Her product line, Sugar Me, features all-natural, cruelty-free skincare products handmade in the US. In the brief moments that we spoke, Vanessa shared how important it was to her that her products were safe enough to use on her own child. She expressed how disappointed she was to discover that many skincare products on the market today are toxic.
At the event I purchased the Cellulite Blasting Coffee Scrub and Tangerine Facial Bar, the Bonbon de Bordeaux and Anti-Aging Facial Bar, and the Fluer de Sucre Face and Body Scrub and Blemish Blasting Facial Soap. Sugar Me also carries bath fizzers, lip scrubs, an express facial sheet mask and lather soap.
Even with brands that position themselves as natural, the ingredients are often questionable. I was curious to see just how “clean” this product line really was. The ingredients in the scrubs I purchased were indeed natural, and appear to be good enough to eat (I don’t plan on testing this!). Take a look for yourself:
Cellulite Blasting Coffee Scrub and Tangerine Facial Bar
Scrub Ingredients: Organic sugar, rice bran oil, ground coffee grinds, peppermint oil, lemongrass oil, sea buckthorn oil.
Soap Ingredients: Orange, white, and pink grapefruit essential oil, cymbopogon Schoenanthus (lemongrass) oil, sea buckthorn essential oil.
Bonbon de Bordeaux and Anti-Aging Facial Bar
Ingredients: Organic sugar, rice bran oil, vitamin C powder, resveratrol powder, and organic scents of Blackberry Bordeaux
Fluer de Sucre Face and Body Scrub and Blemish Blasting Facial Soap
Polish Ingredients: Organic sugar, rice bran oil, and acne fighting essential oils of tea tree, lavender, bergamot, and lemongrass.
Soap Ingredients: All natural shea butter soap, and acne essential oils of tea tree, lavender, bergamot, and lemongrass.
Sugar Me lip scrubs and body scrubs use organic sugar, a natural exfoliating ingredient with a lower likelihood of creating micro tears on the skin. I used the Fluer de Sucre Face and Body Scrub this morning in the shower and found it abrasive enough to tackle the dead skin cells while remaining gentle on my sensitive skin. Nice!
Many of Sugar Me’s products are infused with essential oils and skin-nourishing vitamins. All three scrubs that I purchased smelled amazing, too!
