Dallas based content writer

Hey! Thanks for stopping by. I’m a remote content writer and journaling enthusiast based in North Texas. I founded this site in 2015 to help women of color reclaim their natural birthright of health and vitality. I’m so grateful for the places this community has taken me both physically and spiritually.

How It Started

My communications career began 17 years ago as a beat reporter and copy editor for Indiana University’s campus newspaper. Originally focused on becoming an intellectual property lawyer, I centered my studies on Journalism and Political Science with a minor in Legal Studies sprinkled in for good measure. By the time graduation rolled around, I had already become disenchanted with the legal profession. A year later I packed my bags for San Diego without a clear plan but with an itch for something new.

During what became a 9-year vacation, I wrote for community newspapers and contributed health-related articles for online media publications. Six years were spent working at San Diego non-profit agencies, helping with grassroots efforts to provide housing for homeless veterans, HIV testing for at-risk populations, and meals and education for underserved children and their families.

Holistically Speaking

Working with marginalized communities inspired my interest in accessible wellness and inclusive beauty practices. This interest bloomed into a fully-realized mission in the Spring of 2013 when I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids. I began studying the connection between the mind, body, and spirit, and truly believe health in one area is contingent upon health in all others. I spent years enrolled in Chinese medicine coursework and learned under local herbalists and natural healers. It was also during this time that I became active in online discussions (often debates) about non-toxic beauty and skincare.

Four years later I relocated to Las Vegas, settling into my new role as the sole creative copywriter for FOREO – North America, a global startup with technologically-advanced skin care and oral care tools available in 77 markets. I wrote copy for email marketing campaigns, company presentations and pitch decks, social media captions, blog posts, B2B and B2C articles, collaborating with the Art Director, sales team, and in-house graphic designers. If you’re out shopping, you might see my words on store shelves at retailers like Sephora, Ulta Beauty, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Lord & Taylor.

How It’s Going

Inspired by the challenges of working in the non-profit arena, I earned my Master’s degree in Strategic Organizational Leadership. I enjoy working directly with business owners who need help with strategic structuring, thoughtful marketing, and data-driven decision-making. Currently, I write and consult full-time from my Dallas home.

When I’m not glued to my laptop, you’ll find me at a locally-owned café drinking a matcha latte or lost in somebody’s garden. I am the proud mother of a brilliant, beautiful girl.
